Yes, everything takes place online. This allows for more flexibility, more frequent support, sharing of resources such as tutoring session notes/practice problems/practice assessments, and ease of scheduling. Consistency is essential to the success of math tutoring, and an “anytime, anywhere” online format removes some of the barriers to achieving that consistency. It also allows us to connect no matter where you live or go to school!
We will use Google Classroom for communication, questions, notes, assignments, practice assessments, and feedback on work. We will use Google Meet for tutoring sessions.
Students will need a desktop or laptop computer with a video camera and stable internet connection. A smartphone or scanner that uploads images/documents is also essential. Google Classroom and Google Meet are free to use with a personal Google account. Nothing else is absolutely necessary, however a writing tablet with a stylus would be a plus if you have one.
When you go to schedule sessions, you will find plenty of time slots available during afternoons and evenings Monday through Friday during the school calendar year. I can also accommodate some weekend sessions (I typically have more availability on Sunday than Saturday). If you have other circumstances and need to set up a schedule that does not match my posted availability then please reach out and I will do my best to accommodate your specific needs.
Yes. If you are taking a summer math course or have a specific textbook or curriculum that you plan to work through, I will be happy to help you throughout the summer! Guiding students through a structured plan that is already in place gives us a clear goal and direction for each of the sessions (for example, working with students throughout their math course during the school year). For students who are using the summer to prepare for an upcoming course or review a subject that they took previously, I can recommend a textbook or existing curriculum for us to work through together.
Yes. I taught AP Calculus AB for three years, and I stay up to date with the content and format of the AP exams. I can support students who are preparing for the AP Precalculus, AP Calculus AB, or AP Calculus BC exam.
